Thomas “Trey” Ferguson, J.D.
“You may be whatever you resolve to be” is an aphorism that told to Trey by his parents at an early age and has been a guiding principle for him since graduating from Trinity University in San Antonio. Prior to attending law school, Trey worked in the oil and gas industry for over 14 years, excelling in title examination and coordinating numerous mineral acquisition projects totaling over 1 billion dollars. Although content in his role as a landman, earning his Certified Professional Landman certification from the American Association of Professional Landmen and a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law’s Legal Studies Program, Trey decided to change careers and join his father and uncle in a career in law.
He earned his J.D. Degree from Oklahoma City University’s School of Law, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2024. During his time in Law School, Trey served as staff editor on Law Review, was exchequer for Phi Delta Phi, served as vice-president for the Energy Law Association, earned CALI awards for Oil and Gas Taxation and Tribal Law, and was named to the Dean’s List and Faculty Honor Roll for multiple semesters.
As an attorney, Trey has been able to use his previous experience in the energy industry but has expanded his area of knowledge to include commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, estate planning, and Native American law.
When not working or spending time at their home in Oklahoma City with his wife, Alyssa, and children, Margaret and Tommy, Trey enjoys woodworking and painting. He also holds a position as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Oklahoma, working as a facilitator in the College of Law’s Energy Law Legal Studies Program.
