Jay W. Barnett, J.D., M.L.S.

Jay comes to the firm in his second career after almost 25 years with a Major Metropolitan Police Department and after serving in both the United States Marine Corps Reserve and the Oklahoma Army National Guard. He recently earned his Juris Doctor cum laude from the Oklahoma City University School of Law and also holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Master’s Degree with honors from the University of Illinois at Springfield. While attending law school, Jay won CALI Excellence Awards for top grades in Corporations and Evidence, was recognized by Dean Valerie Couch for Outstanding Service to the School of Law, and was privileged to Extern for the Honorable Robert Bacharach of the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is an active member of both the Federal Bar Association and Phi Delta Phi International Legal Honor Society. Jay is the proud father of two daughters – Christina (12), and Elise (14). He and his wife, Tasa, celebrated their 25th Anniversary in 2017. They separate only on Saturdays in the Fall as Jay heads to Norman, and Tasa – a four year letterman in track at Oklahoma State – frequently heads to Stillwater. Jay loves playing and watching anything competitive – his early love of football, baseball, and basketball having yielded to tennis and golf. He and his family are active members at Our Lord’s Community Church.
